Love ice cream on a hot day

Don't you like ice cream on a hot day?

This one looks like a lemon sherbet with a strawberry center.

I really like this too.

I used:
Yellow: Orly Spark
Pink Goop: OPI Charged up Cherry
Birds: OB plate 10
Tree: A plate 40

This one would actually look better without nail stamping too.
Then I would be able to do more 'goops'
With nail stamping its better to stick to waves like the index and ring finger.

By the way its tape work, i taped over the yellow area and painted pink on the tips.

I think this works with dotting too, I just didn't feel my hand was steady enough that day.

Awesome?

Space Invasion

You probably imagined some crazy shiny design.

Nope, not really, in fact HM mentioned that it reminds her of curtains.

But nonetheless I LOVE THIS!

The whirly things with ball tip reminds me of alien stuff.

I have a big soft spot for creamy pastel colours.

Anyway. It's not as crazy troublesome as it looks, just needs patience and time,
like something you do when the whole afternoon is yours and you're gonna watch a movie.

I used:
Green: Essie Mint Candy Apple
Blue: Orly Snowcone
Space alien design: Bundle Monster plate 20

Method:
1. Cut tape, some thinner some fatter, if you want uniform width go ahead.
2. Green on first, wait for it to COMPLETELY DRY.
3. Paste tape on nail, paint blue over. (One coat will usually do, unless you see bald areas)
4. Stamp on design and peel tape off immediately (no need to wait for polish to dry)
5. After about 3 mins, top coat away!

Fancy Grill Gates

Have you ever wondered why no one ever uses this kind of fancy designs to gate their houses?

WHY NOT?

It looks awesome no?

I used: OPI Cuckoo for this colour
Design: Bundle Monster plate 206
Special yellow polish
Glitter: China Glaze Snow Globe

Christmas Eve

I'm feeling particularly festive this year,

went out and bought all the christmas presents you know.

Anyway, recently bought this electric blue (I'm very drawn to electric blues).

So for the Christmas eve cum house warming party at my cousin's place I did this nail.

I used:
Blue: China Glaze Frost Bite
Gingerbread man: Bundle Monster Plate 222
Dots & Lines: Konad m65
Special white polish

The white areas i just taped and applied white polish over.

World Peace

I don't know why but usually, when people think of world peace, its colourful.

And the fact that i googled world peace and all i see is colourful nails
probably makes me not the only one who thinks that way.

I took this picture after about 2 days of no nail care so don't mind the white ends.

Many people don't realise how lucky they are for not living in a war zone/era.
Amazing how people live through torture, famine and loss of loved ones yeah.
____________________________________________________

I digress, used:
Base: OPI Alpine Snow
Green: China Glaze Turned up Turqoise
Yellow: OPI The IT colour
Pink: Faceshop RD 301
Purple: China Glaze Secret Periwinkle
Designs: OB Plate 11, Special black polish
______________________________________________________

1. Apply white polish.

2. Sponge colours on, I did it in this sequence: Yellow > Pink > Purple > Green.
(I'm feeling that the last colour that is sponged on will prolly be the most prominent one)

3. Stamp & Top coat.

I think my friends liked this one quite a bit, appealed to the guys and girls.

Like Boys

Did you know Comme des Garçons stands for like boys in French?

Their designs are super avant garde and weirdish in a good way.

I used:
Base: OPI Alpine Snow
Designs: OB plate 10, BM plate 2, Konad m17
special red and black polish

I love!

Chanel

I love this one, its very pretty at the same time its so vain.

HAHAH.

I especially love the bottom pinkie,

ohmygod doesn't it remind you of the black/white chanel stockings?

I used:
Base: China Glaze Black Leather
Designs: OB plate 1, 3, 9, special white polish

Je t'aime, Lace!

I've always loved the effect of lace, all sorts.

On clothes, legs, nails.

Anyway. This one is pretty damn girly awesome.

I used:
Base: China Glaze Sunset Sail
Lace: Konad plate m57, special white polish

Witching Hour

This is one of those manicures that are so simple but gets much of my love.

Especially the spider web, I think it is BLOODY COOL. :)

I used:
Base: China Glaze Black Leather
Spider & Web, Bats, Witch: Bundle Monster plate BM13
Skull: BM 225
Mansion: BM224
+ Special white polish

Red Christmas

I'm feeling festive.

Why do people always call it the white Christmas?

I know its snowing and all in other countries... but in Singapore...

There's no snow at all, I see more shopping malls dressed up,

Everything is red, green and occasionally blue (this year the road decorations are blue).

This is prolly my first time trying out multiple designs on one hand.

Christmas tree: Taped, Snow: Dotter
Dots: Stamped
Stripes: Taped

I suggest this one for sleepovers. It is super fun.

The Xmas tree was inspired by the one on Nailside.
Mine is done by first drawing a tree on the tape,
then cutting the tape in half (length-wise), then cut out the half-tree shape.
Piece both sides together on nails and paint.

I think the tree could have been cut on the tape whole but my scissors are huge.

I used:
Base: China Glaze Poinsettia
Dots: Konad plate M79, special white polish

Christmas Snow

Its not black, its green............!

But yes it does look so dark it passes off as black to most people.

I wish i could find a dark green which still looks like green...

I stamped the image on before sponging on some white.

Forgive the blending, I'm not an expert on that, someday....

I used:
Base: OPI Here Today Aragorn Tomorrow
Dots: Konad plate M60, special white polish

Glamorous Zebra

< Normal light, Flash  >
This polish is extremely bling.

< Normal light, Flash  >
I would call this the glamorous zebra.

I used:
Base: OPI Crown me already
Zebra: Konad plate M57, special black polish

btw. this polish is also really hard to remove.

10 Dec 2011

OH SO SHINY!

I used:
Base: NFU OH Holo 65
Pattern: Konad Plate S6, special black polish

My NFU polish arrived a few days ago. No not the 61 one that i REALLY want.

Its 65, its got a blue base. Still very awesome. AND SHINY? YEAH?

I had that mani on for a day...

Then as you know I mentioned in the previous post,

Those super straight lines are just ITCHING FOR A TAPE MANI.

 Experiment a little.

.
.
.

My boyfriend likes it, I like it. woo super cool.

All you need is scotch tape, any tape.

Just make sure that the polish is COMPLETELY DRY. COMPLETELY.

Then cut, paste, polish away.

Do one nail at a time, the trick is to peel off the tape immediately after you've applied the polish.

Also, it seems like those tapes that are semi-transparent (the papery-feel kinds) work well cos you can see which areas are taped quite clearly.

I think my experiments with tape mani started with Nailside tutorials.

From time to time, the family dog makes an appearance in my photos...
Actually it is quite frequent since she is SO CUTE I HAVE TO TAKE PICTURES!

Yeah you know that feeling.

Dogs hate polish (and teeth inspections), the smell is too strong for them crazy nose.

Luckily mine is dried and smell-less so she was nice about taking pictures.

Shopping and whatnot

I did not realise at all setting up a blog shop takes so much time!

The earliest stages of my blogshop is ready!

Check it out

Also, I wanted to post a picture of today's nails but what the heck no sun out there, and this polish SCREAMS for sun.

The picture will be gotten tomorrow morning! But i already feel like fooling around with tape manis...hmm.

Bundle Monster Plate Review Part 1

As everyone who reads this site prolly knows, I am madly obsessed with nail stamping...

So I ordered nail plates from Bundle Monster... and decided I should do a little review. Hehehe.

You might wonder why I don't review these plates in sequence... well honestly I forgot and just went at the ones I liked more... Oops.

Anyway all the stamping here is done with special polish.

BM 206
Well! This one is pretty nice, and random...! The Chinese character on the lower right means friend.

My thoughts: All the designs were pretty easy to pick up and stamp, except the Chinese character. (For some reason I can't get it to stamp fully).

I have already used the ball-like design in one of my manis. Check it out!

BM 201
For all you funky girls out there, I think just the herringbone design makes this plate worth buying.
Don't know why I circled the designs, out of spur I guess?

My thoughts: All the designs were pretty easy to pick up and stamp, except the rainbow. (I stamped maybe 2-3 times to get a full rainbow).

I'm not too good with stamping small design me thinks!

BM 208
Ah, this one allows you to have the 'crack' polish without actually using crack polish. LOL.

My thoughts: All the designs were pretty easy to pick up and stamp, except the long row on middle bottom. (I stamped maybe 2-3 times). I like the idea of the 'cracked look', at least it will be uniform unlike crack polishes which tend to be quite unpredictable.

BM 204
Nature plate, me thinks. With all the trees and flowers. Although the designs on the left are a little random, fan.. and.. some crosses?

My thoughts: This plate worked perfectly fine, even the small designs, I love the peony looking flowers on the right, elaborate but clear. The middle lower flowers seemed a little 'hectic'. Overall, nice plate.

Used the cross design on one of my manis. My friend suggested a lego-ish colour for this design on my next mani, I'll get to that soon.

BM 214
Hmm.. I'm a little conflicted about this one. Would totally buy it just for the feathers...

My thoughts: This plate stamps a little faint, as you can see, the feather design is just awesome. Well... the 'reindeer' looks more like a dog here because for the life of me I can't get the horns to stamp on. Get this one if you like feathers.

BM 212
Oh my god. I love love love this plate. Just the two big designs on the middle already won me over the moment I saw this plate.
My thoughts: This plate worked perfectly fine, other than the single peacock feather on the lower right which looks a little smudgy when stamped on the paper. I suspect that's just me and small design stamping.

I used the lower middle peacock design here. AWESOME!

BM 215
This plate is totallllllly rockinnnn! There's a snake print, a cow print AND a giraffe print. WADCHUSAY?
Not to mention the fan design is so completely random and oriental-pretty?

My thoughts: This plate worked perfectly fine, I didn't bother to stamp the small prints because the big ones already makes this plate SO WORTH BUYING!

Love love love the snake print, used it here!

BM 222
Aww...Who doesn't like the holidays?

My thoughts: This plate stamps well, except the butterfly... I suspect that has to do with small designs and me... again. Well it is festive, and the gingerbread man is so cute.

Don't really know what the top right design is about, even after staring at it for quite a bit, think it belongs in the abstract department. The top middle 'hearts' design looks a little odd as well... the hearts seem a little strangely shaped.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More to come! Will post part 2 when I get the chance!

Clear Skies Ahead

ISN'T THIS LIKE SUPER AWESOME?

I LOVE IT.

In caps meaning a lot.

Its like wallpapers for my nails.

I realised from google images that many people use the blue/white combi...

WELL ITS PRETTY SO YEAH! Don't mess with stuff that works.

Its actually a little less 'shiny' in real life, the picture makes it look a little too bright.

This might look nice in matt... if i ever do secure a Chanel Mat Topcoat...

Its very creamy, my nails look like candy, i feel like eating them.

Stingray Fur

I don't know what this reminds u of...

But it looks like stingray leather to me, the post name is fur instead of leather because it's obviously not really looking like stingray leather but i just FEEL like it looks so much like stingray leather no?!

Ok maybe it would be similar if stingray leather was repeated...

I used:
Base: OPI Ski Teal We Drop
Stingray: Bundle Monster plate BM202, special mint polish

Awesome. Its also a little hypnotising.

7 Dec 2011

Not everything goes with stamping :P

This is one of those polishes that you should leave alone because I think it is more fab on its own!

I painted a few combis for my boyfriend to choose...and of course he chooses the one I think looks weirdest. Somehow guys must have a whole different idea of what's nice... But the nail shop ladies at the mall today asked me how I did my nails. I think they were more facinated with the design than colour anyways, hah!

But anyway,

I paint my nails for my own whimsical high when I look at my nails and go: WHOA NICE.

Oh okay. This picture actually makes the design look more prominent than it really is. Its actually very subtle. Stamping on shiny bases are tricky... most of the time it ends up looking 'quiet' because so much light is bouncing off the glitter in the base.

Unless of course you use a VERY showing colour like solid black for the design.

Maybe one of these days I will try this base with special black polish to see how it looks.

Something oriental

When I first saw this design, it reminded me of something oriental...

You know like a chinese or japanese lantern,
those that ancient chinese/japanese used to carry around at night for light?

Of course some oriental colour was chosen :)

Well gold was the quintessential eastern emperor colour but somehow fine nail designs like this one
(note the fine lines etc) don't show well on a shiny base... see next post for what I mean.

So i went for the next best thing! Yellow!

I used:
Base: OPI The IT colour (I think this is my favorite yellow)
Lantern: Bundle Monster plate BM202, Special red polish

So festive! In the Chinese New Year kind of way.

4 Dec 2011

Unrealistic Roses

Wouldn't it be cool if there were neon pink roses?

Anyways I used:
Base: China Glaze Rainstorm
Roses: Konad plate M65, Neon special polish

I really like Rainstorm, its got this special glittery-ness to it.
The appropriate word to describe it might be blue pearly sparkles.

It's very sheer, I used 3 coats to get the colour ^^.

So pretty.

Shinies~!

I was in a whimsical mood when i decided to do this one, would have used black but my special black polish was alllll used up!

This green is SUPER reflective!
Cameras don't show that well :(

I used:
Faceshop Faceit GR 501
Pattern: Bundle Monster plate BM 204, White special polish

Hui ming was saying that this looks slightly like lego,
Since I got my hands on some neon special polish... I might work on a bold 'toy' version soon!

2 Dec 2011

Peacock

Today Huiming came over to stay over.. so we picked out a few colours and did our nails together.

I wanted to do this peacock design after the snake one earlier on...

something dark + gold... some experiments later i narrowed it down to this two combi's

Ultimately Huiming said the one below looked nicer, I agreed and went ahead with it.

Base: OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow
Gold: Bundle Monster plate BM 215, gold konad polish
Red dots: China Glaze Poinsettia

The dots were done using those floss cum toothpick things which i love using for nail art instead.

Haha.

Forest Snake

My Bundle Monster plates arrived yesterday...

I decided to do the fabled snake print since everyone keeps raving about it..

I must admit bundle monster plates are not easy to use at first, i was trying out stamping for an hour!
Nothing could be picked up neatly etc...
So i fiddled and fiddled, buffed my stamper a little, made sure the plates were clean...
Still no luck, so i decided to give it a rest.

1 hour later I'm back and trying again, BAM it works. Don't know why.

A few colour combi's came to mind, I tested out some and turns out white + oyster OR green + oyster works for me. Since my China Glaze Starboard is severely underused...

First coat here, didn't take pictures for second coat, which did the trick of opaque-ness.

I was about to stamp on the snake scales but i remember a tutorial somewhere showing that patchy blended colours beneath looks awesome.

Apparently, i still have no clue how the patching thing works so I blended OPI Not like the movies (think oyster shell interior but darker. It's very very sheer so it works well here, makes my Starboard green become a tad purple holoish.

Obviously no snake is green with purple holo BUT A GIRL CAN DREAM.

Stamped on, no top coat yet...

Done!

Its sad because i use an IPhone camera and i can't really be bothered to MAKE that purple holo show on pictures, it a subtle thing anyway.
